All too often, we make ourselves miserable by fretting over something in our past, or worrying about what might happen in our future. The past is over and done with, so there is no benefit to be gained by constantly reliving our past missteps, which only serves to cause us sorrow. Worrying about the future is of no benefit as we cannot know for certain what may await us that is beyond our control.
We are also guilty of depriving ourselves of the enjoyment of the present by allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of daily life. We need to stop, take a deep breath, and look around at all the wonder that surrounds us. Take time to play your favorite music. Take time to meditate. Take time to smell the roses.
When you take time to cherish and enjoy the present, you will have more to look forward to in your future. Ultimately, it will also give you something better to remember when the present becomes the past.
